Silvanus (R.I.P.)

Silvanus was born approximately in 1991. He was white with beautiful blue eyes and was very distinguished. He was the nicest and most gentle cat you could ever possibly meet. He was also surprisingly fearless, not that that's necessarily a good thing. He had no front claws, but loved to go outside and he never retreated from other cats or dogs.

Marianne found him outside our apartment at Chickasaw Crossings. He had been declawed by the previous owner and either abandoned or he ran away. We put up signs and ads in the paper, but the real owner never showed up. So, we named him after the Celtic god of the forests and kept him. About 2 months later, his claws become infected and we had to declaw him again because whoever did it the first time did a very poor job. He was okay though and lived a very happy life. He died the day after Christmas of 2006.

Raiden

Raiden was born in 1997. He's black, fluffy, and full of grace and charm. At first, he seems aloof, but he always hangs around at the edge of the room and keeps close watch on visitors. He also has taken up the position as Lucas's guardian angel. Raiden is one of the sweetest cats ever, never scratching or biting anyone and always showing concern for people or other cats despite the fact that he's not really a lap cat. He also lets Logan pet him.

Lance picked up Raiden from Dog's Best Friend, a no-kill rescue shelter set up outside a local Pet Smart, and gave him to Marianne has a "birthday present." Named after the Japanese god of lightning, Raiden was very scraggly-looking, thin, and had a respiratory infection, fleas, ear mites, and colitis. He still has colitis, but we do what we can to take care of him.

Thor

Thor was born in 2002 and is not much older than Lucas. Thor is an orange tabby and is the largest cat of the bunch. He's also the friendliest and will sit in almost anyone's lap, though he's more scared of the boys than Raiden. He never cries when held or picked up, though he is definitely the most talkative, occasionally mewling in the foyer, hallway, or in front of a mirror.

Thor and his two siblings were found near their dead mother on the side of the road. We took them all in and nursed them to health. All three had respiratory infections, ear mites, and fleas, but all responded well to medicine and TLC. Thor's brother was named Loki and given to Mugs & Andre, who renamed him Lucky (and still have him). Thor's sister was named Anck-su-namun and given to Dan, who renamed her Helsbeth and then eventually had to give her up for adoption due to allergies.
